“Banking in India is graduating from general to specialized.” The sector therefore needs specialist officers in various fields like IT, Technical, Agriculture, Legal, Marketing, HR, etc. and also in Rashtrabhasha. So, from last year IBPS has been conducting CWE for Specialist Officers on behalf of 20 participating banks. Detailed analysis of last year’s exam is as follows :-
1) Details of Exam and pass percentage: IBPS CWE specialist officer exam was conducted on 11th March 2012 for the posts of IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Technical Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer.
According to a report, last year around 4 lakh candidates had registered for this exam of which 3 lakh appeared for the exam and about 16000 had passed the exam. The pass percentage was about 5.5%, which was much lower than the pass percentage of 10% for CWE of PO/MT and 17.5% for CWE of Clerical exam. The cut offs were tightened keeping in mind the requirements of the Public Sector Banks. The number of specialist officer vacancies available in Public Sector Banks was about 4000, which was relatively much lesser than the posts for PO/MT/Clerical cadre.
Below table gives the break-up of candidates who had registered, appeared and passed the CWE for Specialist Officers last year.
