All about new IBPS CWE (Online) – clerical cadre exam 2012

The Common Written Exam for clerical cadres is scheduled on December 15, 16, 22 and 23, 2012. The call letter has been released and can be downloaded here. Around 30-35 lakhs candidates are expected to appear for this exam. The CWE Clerical cadre is the first CWE to be conducted online. Candidates should familiarize themselves with the online interface. The CWE online mock assessment is available here. Below are the points you must keep in your mind:

  • After you select the answer for a question using radio buttons, you MUST click ‘Save & Next’ button to save your response. Note that without clicking on ‘Save & Next’ button the answer selected for a question will not be saved.
  • Candidate should not touch keyboard once the exam starts as this will lock the screen.
  • Candidates are not permitted to submit their answers before the entire test time i.e 120 minutes is over.
  • There are 200 questions and each question is followed by 5 options numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
  • Only one question will be displayed at a time on the screen. If you want familiarize with all the questions in a section, click on ‘Question Paper’ button on bottom right of the testing screen.

Structure of Examination: There has been change in the examination structure this year. Last year CWE for clerical cadre had 250 questions, 50 in each area.  The time allotted was 2.5 hrs. This year, there are 200 questions in all and that has to be answered in 2 hrs. The new structure is detailed below.

Penalty for wrong answers: For each wrong answer, one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

Cut-off score: Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standard score in each of the tests (section) as well as on the Total Score to be called for interview. Mere passing in individual tests may not be sufficient as candidates should also score sufficiently high on Total in order of merit to be called for interview.

Eligibility:

Age: There has been change in the age criteria this year. Till last year, the minimum age to apply was 18 years. Since this year the minimum age to apply is 20.

Educational Qualifications (as on 01.10.2012):

  1. From this year, candidates need to have a minimum graduate degree to apply for the Common Written Examination for clerical cadre recruitment. Until last year, the minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the CWE was 10+2 pass.
  2. Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language or should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.
